      <image:title>Stories - Creative Beach Picnic: Embroidery with Ocean Plastics - What I wanted to create was more than a workshop — it was an experience. A way for people to feel closer to the ocean, to connect through creativity with the very materials the sea returns to us. Crafting right on the beach where the materials are found felt natural to me. There’s something deeply grounding about being by the sea — it calms the mind and opens the senses. I wanted this to be a moment of stillness and joy. A soft, mindful immersion into craft, nature, and community.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The beach picnic itself blends gently into the surroundings — natural textures, soft cushions, handpicked elements. It’s meant to feel like a little treat. A spa day for the soul, but with thread and tide. A moment of beauty and creativity, where you nourish yourself with wholesome snacks, sea air, and the joy of making something with your hands.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Creative Beach Picnic: Embroidery with Ocean Plastics - What do we create?</image:title>
      <image:caption>In this hands-on embroidery workshop, we stitch with a twist: we use materials washed ashore. Fishing rope becomes thread or texture. Earbud sticks are turned into beads. Straws are cut into shimmering sequins. Every piece you create carries a story — of transformation, of awareness, and of the sea. You’ll stitch your design onto a small zip pouch or create a framed embroidery piece to take home. Don’t worry if you’ve never embroidered before — simple patterns and guidance make it accessible, relaxing, and deeply satisfying.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Creative Beach Picnic: Embroidery with Ocean Plastics - Why embroidery?</image:title>
      <image:caption>I’ve been crafting with beach-found materials for more than half a decade. Embroidery wasn’t my first love — in fact, I didn’t connect with it at first. But with time, and encouragement, something shifted. A friend once said, “Maybe it’s not about your own creations. Maybe it’s about the experience you create.” That stuck with me. Embroidery has been with us for centuries. It’s patient, meditative, expressive. You don't need much — just a needle, thread, and intention. Within a few hours, while enjoying the ocean breeze and good company, you’ve made something beautiful. Something meaningful. And now it all makes sense. Years ago, someone reached out to ask if I could run an embroidery workshop at her guesthouse. I replied, “I don’t do embroidery.” She never wrote back. Looking back, I smile. That gentle nudge planted a seed. And here we are.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Where My Work Begins: Letting the Current Carry Me - It began with a dream: I was on a beach, drawing in the sand. I felt completely at peace, creating simply for the joy of it — playful, present, and deeply connected to something within. It was a moment of childlike wonder, and that feeling stayed with me. At the time, I was working a regular job — one that, while practical, left me yearning for something more meaningful. Deep down, I was seeking a deeper level of self-realisation — a way of living and creating that felt truly aligned with who I am. Although life as it was once made sense, a quiet undercurrent had always run beneath it all: a persistent longing to live by the sea, to gather materials from the shore, and to create. In time, that inner pull became too strong to ignore.</image:title>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/67d815e782757b7f87d7a65d/8377db46-1198-4b73-a162-2d0f59a888cd/IMG_0673.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Stories - Where My Work Begins: Letting the Current Carry Me - When I left my job in search of something more fulfilling, I initially stayed close to what I knew. But life had its own way of nudging me forward — through a series of unexpected coincidences. I found myself staying in a small beach house in Monte Clérigo (Aljezur, Portugal), after I accidentally spilled tea on my laptop. With no way to fix it and no new one in sight for months, I was suddenly unplugged — and completely present.</image:title>
      <image:caption>So there I was: disconnected from screens, yet deeply connected to the ocean just outside my door. I walked the beach every day, collecting objects washed ashore. One day, I met a fellow beachcomber who would gather driftwood and turn it into finished pieces that very same day — a moment of creative spontaneity that still inspires me to this day.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Where My Work Begins: Letting the Current Carry Me - That was about five years ago, a time of creative exploration. I brought home fishing ropes, plastic earbud sticks, driftwood, bits of fish traps — discarded remnants of the ocean. I began experimenting: weaving baskets, painting driftwood, assembling tiny sculptures. The ideas flowed, and I followed.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Where My Work Begins: Letting the Current Carry Me - What I create today has evolved, but the essence remains. I'm still doing what that dream once whispered to me. Along the way, I’ve balanced other jobs I enjoy, but I’ve always made space for this — for the dream, the desire, the calling.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Where My Work Begins: Letting the Current Carry Me - If you feel that quiet nudge — a longing to explore something new or unknown — listen to it. Create space for it. <image:title>Stories - Threads of the Ocean: A Whale’s Tale in Reclaimed Rope - I started by tracing the shape of the table onto an old bedsheet, mapping out the design: a majestic whale at the center, encircled by seashells, sea urchins, coral, and swaying seaweed. With each piece of rope carefully cut and placed, the artwork took form, element by element, movement by movement, until the background itself became an extension of the sea.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Threads of the Ocean: A Whale’s Tale in Reclaimed Rope - This piece is more than an artistic representation of the ocean; it is a reflection of its vast, interconnected nature. The arrangement of the elements is almost cosmic — like a constellation of marine life calling the viewer to see the sea in a new way. The whale, the seashells, the corals — they are all part of something greater, just as we are. Through this piece, I hope to inspire a deeper love for the ocean: not just as a place of beauty, but as a force to be protected, honoured, and understood.</image:title>
      <image:caption>By transforming discarded fishing ropes into art, I seek to give new life to what was once waste, echoing the ocean’s resilience and fragility. This piece invites collectors, ocean lovers, and conservationists to not only admire the sea’s beauty but to actively participate in its preservation. The ocean is wild, free, and powerful and so are we when we choose to protect it.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Flow, Create, Connect: Art at Lalita House Yoga Camp - I first met Adriano and his wife Monica, the founders of Lalita House Yoga Camp, at a breathwork and sound bath workshop. That experience remains one of the most profound I’ve ever had — held in a beautifully inviting space, filled with pure intentions, and enriched by a musician whose sounds intertwined with the songs of birds and the elements of nature. Years later, I still carry those moments with me.</image:title>
      <image:caption>At the time, I was navigating a difficult period in my life. Art became my way of processing, channeling my energy, and reconnecting with my higher self. Intuitively, I felt a strong pull to create for Lalita House. Trusting my inner guidance, I approached the founders about a collaboration. Adriano already had a few ideas in mind, and our creative journey together began.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Flow, Create, Connect: Art at Lalita House Yoga Camp - The first project was transforming a broken surfboard (donated by a friend from Mellow Move Surfcamp) into a meaningful piece of art for their garden. They envisioned a design inspired by nature, so I painted flowers, plants, and mandalas, accented with gold leaf to complement the serene yoga atmosphere. As I worked, I felt a deep connection with the energy of their daughter, Lalita, after whom the house is named. I wanted to infuse the piece with the essence of gentle, childlike wonder and the abundance of nature.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Flow, Create, Connect: Art at Lalita House Yoga Camp - When Adriano received the artwork, he was struck by the synchronicity — it reflected the very same themes as his daughter’s recent Amazon rainforest-themed birthday party.</image:title>
      <image:caption>Adriano also invited me to create a hand-painted piece of driftwood featuring a wave, hibiscus flowers, and the words Om Shanti. I also curated and installed a permanent gallery wall at the entrance of Lalita House for their guests to enjoy. The collection includes acrylic paintings inspired by surfing (a perfect fit for Ericeira, a World Surfing Reserve), a toucan in a tropical setting, and mixed-media pieces incorporating dried seaweed and gel plate prints.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Flow, Create, Connect: Art at Lalita House Yoga Camp - Lalita House also has a small shop as part of their yoga studio, where I left a selection of my works— delicate seaweed prints and hand-painted galaxy postcards featuring zodiac constellations. Wanting to give back, I decided that 100% of the sales from these pieces would support the Prison Yoga Project Portugal, a great cause Adriano is involved in, helping with the rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates through yoga.</image:title>
      <image:caption>I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that unfolded with Lalita House Yoga Camp, a collaboration born from intuition and a shared vision. Through my art, I hope to plant the seed of joy and connection, nurturing creativity as it flourishes within the collective experience of yoga retreats.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Weaving Stories from the Sea: Art, Sustainability, and Home at La Maison de Kathy - I started with a smaller piece, a monstera leaf design roughly the size of a table mat, using the most commonly found rope colors: shades of green, turquoise, black, grey and the occasional white. When I posted it on Instagram, Kathy loved it and requested a custom piece, but on a much larger scale. Her vision? A 1.5m x 1m tropical design featuring flowers and foliage.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Weaving Stories from the Sea: Art, Sustainability, and Home at La Maison de Kathy - The project was an undertaking. Rope by rope, I glued each piece onto fabric, working tirelessly for seven full days. At times, I wanted to give up. It felt overwhelming, almost impossible, but I pushed through. Completing a leaf, then a flower, then another leaf, the artwork slowly came to life. Looking back now, after having created several large-scale pieces, I no longer feel daunted by such projects. I’ve refined my technique, and each piece feels like a milestone in my creative evolution.</image:title>

      <image:title>Stories - Weaving Stories from the Sea: Art, Sustainability, and Home at La Maison de Kathy - When the piece was finally finished, we hung it beside the entrance of the guesthouse, in a cozy chill-out nook for digital nomads. To complement it, I also created a tree branch installation adorned with lanterns: glass jars wrapped in reclaimed fishing rope, adding to the villa’s eco-conscious charm.</image:title>
      <image:caption>This is just one chapter in my journey with Kathy and her family, and I know there are many more to come. It’s been a true pleasure bringing her visions to life, infusing her stunning villa with sustainable art, and creating a space where she, her family, and guests can enjoy the beauty of handcrafted, eco-friendly design.</image:caption>

Since she offers surf yoga on SWAVE balance boards and her studio is located in Ferrel, Peniche (known as Portugal’s Wave Capital), it felt natural to create a painting that captured the essence of surfing.</image:title>
